Prepare the individual for changes... vs. avoiding changes. Teach the individual how to recognize when there is a change in the schedule of events, activities, locations, teachers, etc. Where does the individual "look" to determine if there is a change occurring in different areas? Establish a way for the individual to know vs. just verbally announcing that there is going to be a change today. Have an identified place where the individual can check to see if there are changes (i.e., right corner of whiteboard, check box for changes on home, school, and individual schedule, etc.).
